Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct counseling services to students in grades 6,7 & 8

  • Provide counseling services to students in grades K-5 as needed

  • Assist students completing and submitting high school applications

  • Provide students with information regarding high school events

  • Implement school wide college/ career readiness curriculum and activities

  • Accompany the Director of Student Support during home visits

  • Design an efficient system for using social work techniques to assist in crisis children and families, with the intention of creating the necessary groundwork to support academic achievement

  • Link identified children and their families with the applicable care.

  • Manage these families and children as they access the care so that they maximize its potential.

  • Offer direct services to a caseload of children (25) as needed.

  • Create and maintain student case files to track progress and identify patterns.

  • Facilitate engagement between student, family, school, and community

  • Promoting a continuum of services for students and families

  • Collaborates with community agencies

  • Mobilize resources and promotes student and family assets

  • Facilitate mediations and conflict resolutions

  • Provide group and individual counseling in response to school wide crises

  • Assist the school in following school board regulations for excessive absences and truancy; attend student support team meetings

  • Offer trainings to faculty as needed on techniques to promote the social-emotional health of our students as requested.

  • Respond to referrals requesting verification of residence.

  • Provide written reports at the end of each school year of student's services and successes.

  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in social work, school counseling, or equivalent.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a school setting.

  • Experience in an urban school setting preferre
