Summary:

The Registered Nurse Right Start Program is responsible for providing nursing assessment, education and support services to women and their families eligible for the High Risk Pregnancy Support Program. Responsible for maintaining the highest standards in clinical nursing practice and adherence to policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of Mercy Home Care.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, college or university,

  • Licensure and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York required

  • BSN strongly preferred

  • Current BLS certification

    EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years' experience in maternal/child health, public health, home visiting or mental/behavioral nursing preferred

  • Home visiting experience preferred

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrates the reliability to be present as scheduled for work meetings, and/or in-service as requested.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a car available for work use

  • Computer skills required, i.e., software appropriate to position

  • Ability to prioritize

  • Strong assessment skills required

  • Ability to multi task

    WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May be exposed to unsanitary conditions in some home settings

  • May be exposed to high crime areas within the community, within the county serviced by the agency

  • Endures exposure to weather and temperature extremes

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
