Position Summary:

The Department of Family Medicine (https://medicine.buffalo.edu/departments/family-medicine.html) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for a human factors postdoctoral research position focused on Medication Safety during Care Transitions. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Human Factors Engineering or a closely related field, demonstrating expertise in qualitative research methods. This position is funded by an NIH R18 grant, and the incumbent will play a key role in planning and executing research projects that will identify and address medication safety problems during care transitions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of research plans.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution of research objectives.

  • Stay abreast of relevant literature and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the quality and impact of grant submissions.

  • Contribute to the development and writing of grant proposals for extramural and/or intramural funding.

  • Presenting research plans/results to faculty, students, collaborators/partners, and community stakeholders.

  • Prepare and disseminate research findings through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences.

  • Collaborate with team members to create reports, articles, and other documents for diverse audiences.

  • Attend seminars and meetings related to the research project.

  • Assist in training and mentoring of graduate, undergraduate, and other scientific staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

  • Strong background and experience in qualitative research methods.

  • Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experiences in healthcare systems and practices.

  • Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS .ti).

  • Track record of successful journal publications and grant writing.
