Catholic Charities is seeking a full-time General Laborer - Maintenance for our Facilities department.

Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that offers an array of programs that strive to empower individuals, children and families. Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY, is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western New York with dozens of programs at 40+ professionally staffed locations. Our programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages, basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries, mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, educational and job readiness services, services to older adults, marriage counseling, immigration and refugee assistance and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues.

JOB SUMMARY : Will at times work in a team-oriented environment. Responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, repairing equipment and facilities, and ensuring the facilities and grounds are clean and functional. Tasks and repairs will include but are not limited to routine carpentry and plumbing duties based on skill level and experience. A great opportunity to learn and develop skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

· Using company vehicles, will pick up and drop off items to include but not limited to donations, furniture, and food items for our various pantries.

· Will transfer furniture from locations as requested.

· Maintains the outside of buildings and grounds (garbage, debris, etc.)

· Removing of snow and ice from roadways, parking lots ramps and walkways.

· Cutting and planting of lawns, trees, and shrubs, and watering and fertilizing of the same.

· Moving and transporting furniture items from and to Catholic Charities locations.

· Responsible for routine meetings set-up and break downs throughout the organization.

· Helps with a variety of installations, repairs, and renovations to buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures and articles.

· Will paint and patch plastering.

· Operates a variety of gasoline-powered vehicles, trailers, mowers, and weeders.

· Operates a variety of trucks in the performance of construction and/or maintenance work.

· Assist other areas related to overall maintenance when assigned.

EDUCATION : Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License, knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. or more and work independently.
