Hours: Varies, 6a-2p, 7a-3p, 8a-4p, 9a-5p, 1p-9p, 2p-10p longer shifts possible at times night, weekend and holiday coverage possible (if needed)

Summary:

Working under the Pharmacy Manager and System Director of Pharmacy Services, the Lead Pharmacist functions in a supervisory role in absence of the Pharmacy Manager. In addition to performing the duties of a Clinical/Staff Pharmacist, the Lead Pharmacist will serve as New York State Supervising Pharmacist and will attend meetings and work on projects as designated by the Pharmacy Manager or System Director, Pharmacy Services.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Graduation from an accredited college of Pharmacy

  • Licensed to practice Pharmacy in New York State

  • Current registration to practice Pharmacy in New York State

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) with 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital in a manager, director, or equivalent role; or

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) with 3 years of experience as Clinical Pharmacist; or

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy with 4 years' experience as a Clinical Pharmacist

  • Board Certification (BPS) in a clinically relevant area of specialty preferred in all instances

  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas preferred:

  • Pharmacoeconomically driven program and service development

  • Supervision of personnel

  • Medication use evaluation

  • Quality assurance

  • Medication use evaluation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Ability to operate the following machinery: Personal computer, laminar flow hood, biological hood, compounding devices, telephone, fax machine, hospital computer systems, copy machine, prescription balance, automated medication dispensing machines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Supervisory skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to convey information to department personnel in an understandable manner

  • Ability to coordinate activities of multiple personnel

  • Good manual dexterity

  • Knowledge of math

  • Computer skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional travel to various locations for meetings; work unusual hours, days and shifts to accommodate needs of the Pharmacy Department
