Job SummarySetup Mechanic II sets up and repairs a variety of fabricating machines and equipment. Works independently within established procedures. Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment performance, safety, and effectiveness.Job DutiesSets up and repairs machinery and equipment following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. Utilizes hand and power tools to repair or replace defective parts, materials, or equipment. Mounts, aligns, and bolts fixtures, dies, and welding heads onto fabricating machines. Performs startup and shutdown of equipment. Adjusts and sets controls to ensure proper machine operation and timing. Runs sample products and examines samples for possible production defects. Makes appropriate adjustments necessary to meet requirements. Performs preventative maintenance as scheduled. Complete routine maintenance of equipment. Assists senior Setup Mechanics with complex maintenance duties. Works with technician in observing mechanical devices in operation to troubleshoot. Dismantles, examines and inspects all machines and parts for repair purposes. Will occasionally load heavy materials to machine. Assists with training newer mechanics in minor adjustments, repairs, and operations. Assists with general maintenance. May need to cover another shift temporarily as production or staffing needs require.
