ISS/PSR Specialist

  • LMSW/MSW, School Counselor, Mental Health Counselor, Behavioral Specialist

  • 1 per building based on student/teacher need

  • Trained in implementing school-based restorative tier I, II, and III practice

  • Roles and responsibilities

PSR Specialist Expectations

  • Educate yourself on restorative practices within schools

  • Learn and practice implementing skills with students

  • No nonsense nurturing

  • Constant communication with teachers, students, and administrators

  • Complete PSR Reflections on School Tool

  • Email daily summary to teachers and administration

  • Review structure of email: see example below

Take daily attendanceReview school policies, procedures, and student expectations with students daily.Work with students and/or other staff members during students' reflection period on issues such as behavior management and preventing undesirable behaviors that resulted in students being assigned to ISS.Monitor all ISS assignments provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.Email teachers 24 hours in advance for work requests and complete student summary and reflection, and send a summary email to staff and admin.Facilitate and arrange delivery of student lunches when necessaryRefer behavior problems to APOperating knowledge of computersExperience in working with high school-age childrenMust be able to handle and react to potentially volatile situations and take appropriate actions
