Position Summary:
The Department of Ophthalmology (https://medicine.buffalo.edu/departments/ophthalmology.html) , Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, SUNY at Buffalo, is looking to recruit an Associate or Full Professor on a tenure-track. The ideal candidate will have 2 or more NIH R01, or equivalent, forward-going extramural grants relevant to eye/vision research. Preference will be given to candidates investigating human retinal degenerations, especially using 3D iPSC models. Primary responsibility is to develop and maintain a successful basic and/or translational research program; secondary responsibilities include teaching (graduate level cell/molecular biology or biochemistry) and service.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D
Well-established publication record relevant to eye/vision research
Minimum of 1-2 funded R01, or equivalent (e.g., NSF ), extramural grants.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Cell/Molecular Biology
Three or more federal, including 2 R01, and private foundation extramural grants relevant to eye/vision research
Translational experience with 3D iPSC-based transplantation or gene therapy in large animal models
Demonstrable history of successful mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows is desirable
