General Motors Company seeks an Area Manager - Manufacturing and Maintenance in Buffalo, NY.Duties: Author Statement of Requirements (SORs) including engineering specifications for procurement of new and refurbished existing manufacturing equipment to support engine production within cost targets, for 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8, 6.6L V8 and 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine and engine components including crankshafts, cylinder heads and cylinder blocks. Assure and execute the design of electromechanical automated plant assembly machinery, hydraulics and materials in order to operate and maintain manufacturing and test processes, equipment, and tooling. Perform engineering reviews and approval of new equipment designs, design new equipment validation and qualification protocol and design installation plans to support the aforementioned protocol. Ensure equipment meets Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) specification and Internal specifications for mechanical, fluid, and electrical systems. Supervise and lead plant engineering team consisting of Process/Controls/Industrial/Lead Controls Engineers each possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, typically Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, but also Environmental and Electromechanical Engineering. Integrate the technology of Cold Testing internal combustion engines using variable frequency Indramat drives, torque transducers and pressure transducers to detect loss of function to existing and new internal combustion engine technology. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field and 2 (two) years of experience as a Technical Area Leader, Assembly Process Engineer, or related role. Must also have experience with: authoring Statement of Requirements (SORs) including engineering specifications for manufacturing equipment to support engine production, and ensuring equipment meets Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) specification and OEM internal specifications for mechanical, fluid, and electrical systems.
