What You Will Do:

The Applications Engineering (AE) Manager will work collaboratively with both internal teams and external channel partners to provide industry leading customer experience. The Applications Engineering Manager will be involved in all aspects of the sales process from initial inquiry through order execution.

The successful candidate will allocate their time on tactical AE jobs (75%) and managing the AE team (25%).

The incumbent holds responsibility for leading the activities of the Applications Engineering department including work allocation, cross-training and constantly developing productivity improvements. As a critical member of the team, your primary areas of responsibility will include:

  • Direct and coordinate AE activities while achieving optimum use of employees and ensuring robust customer experience

  • Coach and develop our talented AE team as well as provides guidance and leadership

  • Guide successful completion of projects through collaboration with Sales, Project and Product Managers, Design Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations

  • Manage department budget and accomplishment of development within defined parameters

  • Develop measurements, processes and tools for continuous improvement to drive department productivity

  • Work collaboratively on solutions with customers and markets including, but not limited to, Process & Industrial, Compressor & Dryer, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Dairy, HVAC and Refrigeration markets

  • Utilize API software, vendor material quotes and pricing guidelines for sizing, selection, cost estimating and market pricing

  • Develop and maintain the heat transfer expertise necessary to advise and train sales agents, partners and customers on the thermal and mechanical aspects of heat exchangers

  • Generate cost estimates, quotations and perform the necessary follow up activities to facilitate the award of new business

  • Work closely with internal departments throughout the sales cycle to deliver an exceptional customer experience

  • As appropriate, provide feedback to be used for initiating product, process and/or marketing improvements.

  • Review purchase orders and resolve discrepancies to thoroughly and accurately process orders

  • Utilize the ERP system to process orders

  • Meet and exceed department objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering

  • Strong self-starting, accountable and customer-focused leader with at least 3 years of experience in Applications Engineering Management in a manufacturing or manufacturing service environment

  • Learning aptitude to familiarize yourself with our customers, products, processes and systems

  • Analytical and solution focused with proven experience applying technical and continuous improvement tools to drive performance improvement

  • Experience in Heat Exchanger Industry is preferred
