Summary:
Assists Supervisor, Administrator and Vice-Chair with the investigation, development and integration of leading-edge molecular and next-generation sequencing technologies into the diagnostic clinical laboratory. Acts as the technical lead in the laboratory, in addition to the Administrator and provides the technical expertise to integrate and streamline state-of-the-art technologies for increasing patient care through rapid data creation for diagnosis, treatment and research initiatives. Directly supports the Administrator and Supervisor in designing and carrying out validation strategies for new high impact laboratory developed tests (LDTs) through NYS CLEP. Acts as the lead technologist performing related laboratory clinical testing as well as research activities as needed.

Salary range for this position is $84,156 - $106,454 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. This position also offers a geographic differential of $4,580 annually in addition to the salary range above for a total salary range of $88,736 - $111,034 annually.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
1. Possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
2. Eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
3. Possession of a restricted license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Molecular Diagnostics in the State of New York; or
4. Eligibility for restricted licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Molecular Diagnostics in the State of New York.

Education and Experience
1. Doctorate degree in medical or clinical laboratory technology or a related discipline and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in a Molecular Pathology Laboratory conducting Molecular based assay, next generation sequencing; or
2. Master's degree in medical or clinical laboratory technology or a related discipline and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in a Molecular Pathology Laboratory conducting Molecular based assay, next generation sequencing; or
3. Bachelor's degree in medical or clinical laboratory technology or a related discipline and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time experience in a Molecular Pathology Laboratory conducting Molecular based assay, next generation sequencing.

NOTE:
1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the appropriate certification noted above within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have experience with basic molecular biology concepts and techniques; experience with robotic and automated technologies, prior assay development and implementation experience, experience coordinating proper training of clinical/research staff and delegation of duties accordingly, and experience providing verbal and/or written guidance to staff on technical and procedural matters. They will also have their New York license as CLT or eligible for restricted licensure pathway, experience with quality control, i.e. reagent/data/environmental QC, etc., experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms and library preparation, and prior project management/team leadership experience.
