AVAILABLE SHIFTS: 8AM-4PM and 9AM-5PM Monday-Friday 12AM-8AM, Tuesday- Saturday / Sunday-Thursday 8AM-4PM Sat/Sun and 8AM-6PM Sat/Sun

POSITION SUMMARY: Assure the availability of crisis phone and chat counseling (including lethality assessment), supportive counseling, and information and referral to individuals who contact Crisis Services 24 hour hotline, Chautauqua County 24 hour hotline, 988 Lifeline, Chat Platform, and all other dedicated lines in the Crisis Counseling Program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintain a commitment to the mission and work of Crisis Services with a deep appreciation for and sensitivity to the guiding principles of the organization. Screen all clinical calls and chats for lethality per AAS guidelines. Enter all calls and chats in an iCarol call report, including demographic information and presenting problem. Appropriately complete interagency program referrals. Assist in training and mentoring crisis phone and chat counseling volunteers and interns. Participate and engage in clinical supervision with assigned CCP program manager. A minimum of on-call consultant hours per month as assigned by Director of CCP and as stipulated in CWA collective bargaining agreement. Depending on previous experience, candidate may be required to successfully complete agency crisis counselor training program. Other duties as assigned by Director of Crisis Counseling program or the Program Supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge: Must possess strong knowledge of mental health and suicide dynamics and effects, public awareness and crisis prevention and intervention services. Superior knowledge of HIPAA laws/regulations with regard to protected health information; code of ethics, confidentiality and privacy principles.

Ability to: Work independently and as part of a team. Excellent problem solving, conflict management, organizational and time management skills. Demonstrate high level of compassion and empathy, confidentiality and understanding for clients. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication with clients, supervisor, staff, and other departments; Exercise sound judgment and discretion; Be reliable and consistent in attendance, punctuality, work ethic and professionalism; Manage multiple tasks, and establish priorities in a rapidly changing and fast paced environment.

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college and/or university in human service field, social work or relevant field.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year of professional pre or post-graduate experience; preferably providing direct services in mental health or human service setting. Experience with crisis situations and quickly establishing rapport with clients preferred. Demonstrated ability and experience working with diverse populations.
