GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY

Reporting into Global Business Services, Global Payroll is an a critical, dynamic, and evolving function that is responsible for the accurate pay of over 120,000 employees across the world.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, EMEA Payroll Operations will co-lead the EMEA region in day-to-day operations. He/She will have progressive payroll experience operating within a large, global organization. The Director will possess strong leadership and change management skills as we are amid significant growth and transformation. This highly visible role will lead functional areas including payroll processing, payroll Tier 3 colleague support and business analysis. This role will support the delivery of a multi-year Global Payroll roadmap and support merger & acquisition activities with subject matter expertise. Working closely with payroll senior leadership, payroll regional leads, country managers/SMEs and key internal business partners will require strong relationship building and negotiation skills. Driving the success of virtual teams will require excellent communications skills and flexibility as Thermo Fisher operates in every time zone. Evidence of tangible measured results will be required of candidates during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of approximately 20 countries in the EMEA region

  • Manage a large operations team/s of approximately 20-40 colleagues

  • Manage a diverse team of talent within multiple countries and time zones

  • Support a complex portfolio of country implementations and large mergers & acquisitions

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of payroll processing in region

  • Lead deployment of new tools, systems, processes to aid in the quality, efficiency, and delivery of payroll processes

  • Coach, mentor and provide leadership development to all team members on a regular basis

  • Strong, ongoing collaboration with peers and Global Payroll leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and work-related experience, required

  • Extensive experience working in a progressive payroll position within a global delivery environment, required

  • Stellar knowledge of core, end to end payroll processes and procedures including controls, required

  • Expert knowledge of EMEA payroll, required

  • Workday and ADP product suite advanced knowledge, required

  • Strong leadership presences, required

  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
