Job Description:

Studies blueprints, sketches, or plans for information pertaining to type of form work requires, such as lumber or steel forms and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated. Selects specified type of lumber or other materials. Prepares layout, using rules, framing, square and calipers. Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk and marking gage. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes. Assembles cuts and shaped material and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins or bolts and nuts; verifies trueness of forms with plumb bob and carpenter’s level. Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete. Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling above from work ground level. May weld metal parts to steel structural members.

Workers should be able to: work within precise standards of accuracy; rate information using standards which can be measured or checked; compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects. Look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look like solid objects and follow oral and written directions, plans and blueprints. Physically, workers must be able to: see well (either naturally or with correction); coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers. Use hands, arms, and fingers fully; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at heights as required; lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 to 100 pounds and occasionally move.
