Welcome to Amazon Games Bucharest! Joining the ranks of the existing development teams in Orange County, Montreal, San Diego and Seattle, we’re excited to expand Amazon Games’ commitment to creating and publishing incredible games, and we’re on the lookout for talented folks to join us as we grow.

Amazon Games is seeking a highly talented and motivated Systems Development Engineer to join our Live Operations team supporting new titles in development.

In this role you will work closely with our Cloud Architects to review architecture designs and develop migration strategies, create CDK automation to build the infrastructure for multiple titles, and create scripts and tools to support operation of live titles. You will be a team player who is able to work directly with end-users and teammates to bring titles to production.

Key job responsibilities

As a Systems Development Engineer, you will be expected to:

• Be a technical representative within AGS for third party titles.

• Infra-as-Code and architecture reviews of second / third party titles.

• Infra-as-Code pipeline creation using CDK.

• Provide general technical support for third party titles: e.g. load testing, performance and cost optimization, and operational excellence.

• Creation of scripts and tools to support the infrastructure team and operation of live titles.

A day in the life

This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.

About the team

At Amazon Games, our ambition is to create bold new experiences that foster community in and around our games. Our team of game industry veterans is developing and publishing live service AAA multiplayer games and developing original IPs, including New World, with our studios and teams in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, and Montreal. Amazon Games also publishes best-in-class games working closely with our partners, leading with Lost Ark from Smilegate RPG, Throne and Liberty from NCSOFT, Blue Protocol from Bandai Namco Online as well as the next major entry in the Tomb Raider series from Crystal Dynamics.

Basic Qualifications

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, TypeScript, Ruby

• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

• Extensive software development experience

• Significant experience supporting infrastructure-as-code

• Significant systems experience (networking, storage, compute, VMs/containers)

Preferred Qualifications

• A passion for Gaming! – Great understanding of how the Games industry operates and the unique characteristics, delightful weirdness, and culture of the industry.

• Experience supporting large-scale high-availability systems in a production environment.

• Professional Game industry experience dealing with Game and/or Game backend services.

• Deep knowledge of AWS services and their relevance to the Games industry.

• Relevant technical knowledge is helpful, such as: Game development platforms (Unity, Unreal, etc), core distributed computing concepts, fundamentals of cloud computing and virtualization, platform variation (mobile, PC, Console), software defined networking, network functions virtualization, etc. with the ability to go deep enough on relevant technologies key to the industry.

• Strong written/oral English communication
