Job Information

Catholic Health Initiatives Neuro Telemetry RN in Bryan, Texas

Overview

As our Neurology Nurse at St. Joseph Health, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll see patients with significant neurological conditions such as hemorrhages, aneurysms, strokes, brain and spinal tumors, seizure disorders, and spinal disorders. You will provide the best care possible while helping them and their families make the best decisions for their care.

Considering the level of care our neurology patients require, we maintain low nurse to patient ratios on this unit. You’ll perform neurological exams, head to toe exams, administer medications, monitor intake and output, and keep a very close eye on our patients’ blood pressure. You’ll monitor any external ventricular drains, intracranial bolts or lumbar drains. You’ll work closely with other nurses, physicians, case managers and a team of dedicated allied health professionals to monitor these patients and offer them the best possible outcome.

Although each shift contains the same fundamental duties, no two days are the same. We take the toughest cases and you may see patients with new neurological diseases never before documented or brain operations in portions of the brain most physicians won’t touch. Because we take the tough cases, not every outcome will be ideal. That’s why you must have a strong passion for neurology and advancing science. It can be draining, but also incredibly rewarding when patients and their families celebrate victories.
