Bloomberg News invests in its journalism and its journalists. We have a culture that will support and challenge you to innovate, learn new skills and deliver news in a manner best suited to the modern reader's interests. Working here will give you the chance to grow as a writer and as a data-driven journalist. Over time, you will be exposed to a wide range of opportunities only available at the world's most credible financial news organization.

We are looking for an ambitious, resourceful and collaborative reporter to help lead our coverage of the geopolitics reshaping and shifting the balance of power across technology companies worldwide.

We'll trust you to:

  • Chronicle Europe's role in the global battle for dominance over chips, artificial intelligence, quantum computing and other emerging technologies.

  • Regularly break news on new tech-related bans and restrictions; the subsidies being doled out for semiconductor factories; and the technical workarounds that European tech companies such as ASML are using to navigate trade barriers.

  • Build a deep network of sources including policy aides, lobbyists and the EU’s most powerful politicians and regulators to scoop the competition on new developments on tech policy and regulation. This will include breaking news on rules impacting AI development, telecoms and their supply chains, as well as deals and investments for tech, media and telecom companies.

  • Work with our legal reporters in Brussels to break news on tech companies running afoul of EU rules such as the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act.

  • Expertly unpack the inner workings of lawmaking in Brussels and help our readers navigate the challenges Europe is facing in ridding China from its tech and telecom supply chains; supporting homegrown tech industries; and regulating the world's largest technology companies.

You'll need to have:

  • A proven record of producing high-quality scoops and enterprise.

  • The ability to write a copy that is clear, succinct, focused and centered on why our coverage matters to readers.

  • Strong collaboration skills and an eagerness to work with other reporters in our global technology group and other colleagues across teams and platforms.

  • An ability to work quickly under deadline pressure and contribute to a range of platforms including radio and television.

  • A deep understanding of geopolitics, possess an uncanny ability to source well and deeply and be capable of delivering clean, clear copy that leads with why our coverage matters.

  • Previous experience covering geopolitics and/or technology is a plus.

  • A proficiency in French and English.

  • A commitment to the idea that journalism can and should hold the powerful to account.
