Job Summary

The Development and Alumni Relations ( DAR ) Senior Systems and Data Analyst ( SSDA ) partners with DAR and College departments who utilize data from DAR’s Constituent Relationship Management ( CRM ) system and other DAR function-specific software applications in meeting fundraising and outreach/engagement objectives by providing system and data analytical, technical, and educational support for the storage, access, analysis, extraction and reporting of meaningful advancement information. The SSDA develops and maintains a data warehouse and utilizes various application data extraction tools and reporting platforms to provide highly-specific philanthropic financial, prospect, event, volunteer, relationship, biographical, membership, communication, and engagement reporting for a wide range of audiences and purposes.

Essential Functions:

  • Receives and manages a high-volume of deadline-critical data requests from DAR and College department staff.

  • Performs data extraction, manipulation, and validation/reconciliation, and builds reports using CRM application tools (query/export), data warehouse systems and MS databases ( SQL , Excel, Access), and reporting platforms (Powerbi, Crystal Reports).

  • Partners with assigned ‘Primary Program Areas’ on cyclical and new initiatives to define the most effective and efficient use of system data and processes to track progress and drive strategic action.

  • Provides ongoing customer support and education of data and processes for DAR staff as well as sharing in the system, data and process ‘training’ required to onboard newer IS Analysts and assist/collaborate with projects.

  • Owns, designs, develops, and maintains the DARIS data warehouse for the purpose of efficient and flexible access to significant and consistent DAR data.

  • Produces operational reports and data extraction for both internal departments and external

organizations that are required on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

  • Fully participates in the implementation of function-specific DAR (or College-wide) application systems, especially from the perspective of integration with the DAR CRM . Builds exports and imports for system customizations and integrations and validates data accuracy on a regular basis.

    Education/Skills Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Solid understanding of relational database file structure, design and management concepts as they relate to application software systems. Strong data extraction, reporting, and validation skills using various tools with the ability to learn and adapt to new technical tools as they evolve. Thorough knowledge of MS Excel, Access and SQL . Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Creative problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly document technical and operational processes. Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment

and under pressure of deadlines and interruptions. Sensitive to and accepting of confidentiality requirements.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Minimum of 7 years of information systems data analyst experience, preferably in a sophisticated academic fundraising environment and preferably with the Raiser’s Edge enterprise system (Raiser’s Edge certified if possible); extensive experience with query, export and report-writing software, preferably Crystal Reports; extensive experience requiring the use of Access and Excel; experience with accounting procedures; interest in and experience with training and working with people who have a wide range of computer skills.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Hours are primarily Monday through Friday; 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with occasional work after 5:00 pm or weekends. Minimal travel required. This is an exempt position requiring time commitment necessary to satisfactorily complete job requirements.
