GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Valve Technician is responsible for disassembly, evaluation, assembly, and hydrostatic testing of Kelly and Inside BOP Valves. Job title is required to maintain traceability throughout job tasks and upload applicable documents into the asset management system. Inventory of parts and associated equipment based on incoming evaluations and/or usage along with preventative maintenance of equipment is required. The individual will work closely with dispatcher, job coordinators, and third parties to properly qualify valves to internal or external requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to keep track of valve inventory, valve parts of incoming and outgoing valves

  • Maintain awareness of shortages in inventory

  • Be able to accurately determine condition of parts, conforming or non-conforming

  • Must know the inner workings of Kelly and Inside BOP valves

  • Be able to communicate with vendors for parts

  • Ensure equipment is in good working order and keep up with calibrations

  • Must know and implement test requirements for each customer and internal specifications

  • Maintain stock/inventory of o-rings, teflons, supplies, etc.

  • Must be able to operate breakout machine

  • Knowledge of torque specs, friction factors and applications of usage

  • Assist in planning and shipment of damaged valves for repairs.
