We are trying to add someone to our team who intimately understands virtualization, containerization, and digital transformation at an enterprise level while collaboratively producing strategic approaches to drive measurable business outcomes for customers. More importantly, do you understand how to integrate and leverage diverse technology sets needed to drive cost avoidance, cost savings, and investment recommendations that customers value? As a Consulting Architect within VMware Professional Services (PS) you will be responsible for the technical leadership required to deliver customer-focused solutions, capabilities, and sales support to ensure that VMware customers can execute their journey to a Software-Defined Enterprise that leverages multiple clouds. Produce measurable business outcomes.

The PS Consulting Architect is a senior technical position requiring excellent interpersonal/listening skills, complex problem-solving, big-picture thinking, and solution articulation. With a clear and agreed-upon client vision, you will be responsible for scoping a solution to realize the vision. As a PS Consulting Architect, you will be responsible for scoping the solution and supporting conceptual design/client proposal generation. Education and Experience

12+ years' experience in a technical capacity in either Infrastructure, Development, Desktop, or Systems Management, with a strong bias toward networking and containerization

Bachelor's degree

Strong presentation, executive client management and business development and experience in a consulting or professional services environment

Experience as a technical architect in a consulting environment, including time supporting sales and working with technical staff and implementations

Strong understanding of application software development for one or more of the Linux, UNIX (e.g. Solaris), and Windows operating systems. Systems programming or OS internal level skills would be an advantage

Industry-leading technical certifications (VCP, VCDX, CCIE or MCA are highly desirable)

TS/SCI with poly required

Desired Skills and Knowledge

Deep understanding of virtual IT production data centers

Deep understanding of networking and storage

Experience and understanding of modern DevOps practices

An understanding and experience with automation/configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or an equivalent is highly desired.

Strong systems design and architecture skills

Strong scripting skills in any of the following: JavaScript, Python, Perl, Powershell, Bash, etc.

Strong ability to synthesize customer business requirements and convert into technology solutions based on VMware Management product stack

Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards (e.g. SNMP); capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network management

Understanding of modern IT production data center and Internet (ISP/ASP) hosting operations

Knowledge of broader network infrastructure components (e.g. TCP/IP, Active Directory, DNS)

Practical experience with the VMware portfolio - vSphere, NSX, vRealize Suite, vCD, etc.
