    JOB SUMMARY

    The Safety Monitor / Residential Aide (“SMRA”) c oordinates and ensures the overall safety and security of the facility. The SMRA monitors and verifies resident movement, conduct, and overall behavior in the facility and around the perimeter of the building. The SMRA manages access control to ensure all residents and visitors comply with building entry and exit protocols and conducts daily bed counts for vacancy control. The SMRA also assists with food distribution, resident supplies distribution, mail distribution, and coordination of maintenance and repair needs with hotel / facility management.

    Pay: $20.68 per hour- approx. $43,000 annually.

    FSLA: Non-exempt- eligible for overtime.

    Schedule: 2 openings 1) Saturday-Wednesday 12am-8am (off Thursday & Friday) or 2) Tuesday-Saturday 12am-8am (off Sunday & Monday).

    JOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position.

    The SMRA ensures the safety and security of all residents, visitors, staff, and property, and provides support services to residents. Specifically:

    Safety Monitoring

  • Screen all residents, staff, and visitors to the facility, ensures all exits and entries are documented, and all ensures Security personnel conduct bag searches and body wand searches.

  • Provide limited crisis intervention and de-escalation to residents as needed and coordinate with social service staff for case management and follow-up. Contact supervisor and/or the proper authorities as needed.

  • Conduct weekly unit / dorm inspections with social service staff in accordance with OTDA/DSS standards and protocols.

  • Review video cameras and monitor common areas .

  • Enforce facility safety standards including proper wearing of PPE as applicable, Safety Monitor vests, and ID badges.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation accurately throughout shift , i.e., turn-over, census, logs, incident reports, case notes, etc.

  • Coordinate with Building Maintenance to address maintenance and repair needs and physical plant hazards.

  • Facilitate and document evacuation procedures (i.e. fire drills) as directed.

    Resident Support

  • Conduct initial intake for new residents. Gather basic demographics and immediate needs, review program rules and regulations, and enforce the rule of 2 bags per person.

  • Conduct periodic resident wellness checks and daily bed counts for vacancy control. Conduct heightened resident wellness checks for special needs residents.

  • Enforce and educate residents on house rules, and CHI and DSS policies and regulations. Refer non-compliant residents to social service staff.

    Facility Support

  • Perform administrative and reception duties at front desk when needed.

  • Ensure units are cleaned and ready for new placements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisors, Operations Coordinator, and Program Director.

Qualifications

What do I need to apply?

  • Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, nights and/or weekends and overtime if necessary.

  • Certifications required or need to be obtained in first 30 days of employment:

  • First Aid/CPR Certification

  • Food Handler’s Certification

  • F-02 certification

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in related field preferred.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Multi-lingual and Spanish proficiency prioritized.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls, and perform proper notifications.
