Position Summary

The candidate in this position will be responsible for the management and coordination of research, education, and technology transfer activitiesy across various grants and initiatives at the C2SMARTER Center. C2SMARTER was recently redesignated as a U.S. DOT Tier 1 University Transportation Center and conducts faculty-led research on topics related to urban mobility, reducing congestion, and transportation technologies. C2SMARTER Center, led by NYU Tandon School of Engineering, is a consortium of 7 nationwide universities working on cutting edge research, technology transfer, and education/workforce development. As part of its suite of projects, the Center works with federal, state, regional, and city agency sponsors to utilize our resources of University-based research, faculty, and students towards meeting and solving real-world transportation problems beyond the state-of-practice.

As the center continues to expand with new grants and thrust areas, this position will assist Center leadership in completing deliverables per sponsor requirements and deadlines, ensuring administrative and technical project requirements are adequately met, and center activity across its Principal Investigators, other research staff and students as well as its diverse agency sponsors and partner are appropriately coordinated and supported.The candidate will be relied upon to develop and edit documents and presentations in support of center research, communicating with sponsors and partners, arranging meetings, events, workshops, symposia, and seminars developing marketing materials and content on the center’s website. The successful candidate will have strong management and organization skills, including familiarity with project and responsibility tracking tools and best practices. The candidate will also provide support for the administrative and logistical needs of the center’s projects including field testing, outreach to current and new partner organizations and researching potential new partners and collaborators. The successful candidate will possess strong and flexible communication and interpersonal skills to interface with external stakeholders, as well as the center’s faculty and students.

The ideal candidate will be able to jump in to assist research staff, faculty, and students in support of completing research projects, ranging from creative-problem solving to technical, administrative, or IT-related issues, liaising with partners and stakeholders to break down barriers, and finding creative solutions to engage students and attract them to the transportation field. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with learning new web-based tools and applications in support of Center activities and goals, and help Center leadership develop and find new ways to improve the Center’s reach and successful execution of its mission.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in a related areaRequired Experience:5+ years experience with project management, research coordination, or related field, managing budgets and supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:

3+ years experienceRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous projects and initiatives simultaneously, with the ability to work independently with general direction from leadership.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Experience managing or coordinating logistics of events such as conferences, seminars, and meetings. Experience with searching for and completing grant applications for diverse sources of funding. Experience mentoring and overseeing student work. Knowledge of web tools and applications designed to support research.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $90,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
