JPMorgan Chase Product Control - External Reporting, Associate in Brooklyn, New York

Join the Investment and Corporate Banks (ICBs) Product Control function where your primarily focus will be on ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm's books and records, while striving to continuously find ways to improve existing processes. You will need to collaborate with partners in London, New York, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, and Mumbai to develop a holistic understand of the business that will enable you to deliver on and ever evolving agenda.

As an Associate, in the external reporting group within Investment & Corporate Banking (ICB) Product Controllers unit you will be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of financial reporting. You will be providing specific line of business information to the central reporting functions who consolidate this information and submit firm-wide disclosures to both external (e.g., regulatory) and internal stakeholders.

Job responsibilities:

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly/quarterly regulatory reporting requirements (10Q/10K, Rep Letter that reports on quarterly key financial metrics & control comments, Volcker, Reg W, Reg K, etc.) through partnership with regional Product Controllers and Central CIB Reporting. Key submissions include loans, off-balance sheet commitments, equity investment, fair value measurement including leveling the balance sheet products to three-level fair value hierarchy, cash flows, and providing commentaries for P&L movements.

  • Assisting with daily/weekly/monthly balance sheet sign-off to CIB Treasury.

  • Assisting with Recovery & Resolution responsibilities which include BAU appendices review and annual plans including Sub-LOB, Object of Sale, and Insured Depository Institution Resolution Plan.

  • Supporting the balance sheet forecasting and planning cycles by working with key finance contacts in Product Control, P&A, Central CIB Reporting and other IB and Corporate Finance groups.

  • Analyzing balance sheet forecast and actual results by investigating discrepancies across regions and provide consolidated commentary on businesses.

  • Assisting with reporting on Product Control P&L and Risk Control Scorecard.

  • Performing and developing processes in line with the firms control framework and participating in audit testing.

  • Developing and updating standard operating procedures.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills.

  • 3+ years relevant experience of financial services, with product knowledge of a CIB line of business.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Intermediate skills in Excel / Alteryx and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to analyze large data sets and present conclusions concisely.

  • Inquisitive mindset that is comfortable with ambiguity and happy to challenge to status quo.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Ability to create ad hoc reporting for senior management.

  • Highly motivated and able to thrive and think clearly under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-starter with excellent time management/prioritization skills.

  • Desire to expand technical skills through automation tools such as Alteryx & Tableau
