Description of Duties:

-The fellow will contribute to NIH and VA funded research projects including trans-ancestry genetic studies of major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use. -Methods applied may include genome-wide association studies, analysis of rare and copy number variants, polygenic risk scoring, models of comorbidity including casual modeling, and machine learning applications. -Training is tailored to the experience and needs of the fellow and has an emphasis on collaborative research. -The fellow will take advantage of large sets of genomic, clinical, and behavioral data derived from a wide variety of large-scale studies (e.g., UK Biobank, All of Us, PsycheMERGE, Million Veteran Program). -The fellow will have the opportunity to join the Institute for Genomics in Health (IGH), the Population Genetics and Environment in major Depression (POP-GEM) Working Group, and the PsycheMERGE Diversity Initiative, as well as collaborate with the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) and the Latin American Genomics Consortium (PGC). -The appointed fellow will receive team mentorship from IGH faculty including Drs. Roseann E. Peterson, Tim Bigdeli, Jacquelyn Meyers, and Peter Barr (www.genomics-brainscience-populationhealth.com). -

Qualifications:

REQUIRED: -Postdoctoral position in Psychiatric and Statistical Genetics. Applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD and a background in one of the following fields: human genetics, behavioral genetics, biostatistics, mathematics, statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer programming, or similar. PREFERRED: -Strong candidates will have excellent programming and data analytic skills, knowledge of statistics, familiarity with genome informatics tools, and a strong publication record is preferred, but interested applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of past training experiences.
