Part-Time Faculty: General Psychology (71103)Location: New York, NYDescription:The Department of Social Science and Cultural Studies at Pratt Institute is calling for applicants towards the Fall 2024 semester to join our part-time faculty community. The Social Science and Cultural Studies program is home to an interdisciplinary major and several minors, and serves the Institute by providing courses towards Pratt's General Education core and post-core curriculum.The SSCS department is looking for instructors to teach a section of General Psychology on Pratt's Manhattan campus in Fall 2024. Pratt's General Psychology course meets once per week for three hours.The section will meet:Tuesday 10:00 am - 12:50 pm.General Psychology:Psychology is a study of human mental processes, behavior and activities. This course is designed to familiarize students with major areas of psychology and provide them with knowledge of key psychological theories. The course covers basic topics of psychology such as origin of human knowledge, emotional and mental development, behavior in groups, psychological disorders and their treatment. These courses will include a Critical and Writing Intensive component.Qualifications:Masters degree in Psychology (ABD or PhD preferred).Previous experience teaching is preferred but not required.Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
