Under close supervision and with minimal latitude for independent judgment, this individual will perform physical and clerical tasks supporting the Mail Center operations.

Position Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Receives, sorts, and distributes mail or packages.

  • Signs for overnight/priority mail such as FedEx, UPS, or certified return receipt mail and prepares mail for pick-up.

  • Loads unloads, lifts, and moves mail and packages.

  • Prepares, sorts, and labels outgoing mail.

  • Picks up and delivers interoffice or intra-office mail/parcels.

  • Contact students to pick up deliveries via email and phone calls.

  • Acts as a messenger, both on and off campus.

  • Insert letters or other materials into envelopes.

  • Computes required postage, stamps outgoing mail, and/or operates office machines to process mail.

  • Delivers meters to Post Office.

  • Answers routine queries from users of the Mail Center.

  • Operates office machines, duplicates, postage meters, etc.

  • Makes scheduled trips for deliveries or collections; if necessary, operates various kinds of motor vehicles to carry mail or parcels.

  • Reports any noticeable mechanical defects in the motor vehicle and/or office apparatus.

  • Uses a computer to perform routine tasks, e.g., entering packages in our Inbound Tracking System, sending and receiving department emails, and looking up student, faculty, and staff information.

  • Assists with special mailing projects, such as bulk mailings.

  • Meter outgoing letters and bundles and sorted outgoing mail according to US Postal Service requirements in preparation for inter-campus delivery and/or delivery to the USPS.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
