Whitsons Culinary Group Driver Helper - Brooklyn in brooklyn, New York

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting with loading, unloading, and heavy equipment usage for the transportation for Whitsons products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Using machinery/equipment for handling of loading and unloading trucks. * Assist with loading ensuring goods are correctly stowed. * Communicate effectively with office. * Deliver and unload goods at required site. * Warehouse use of heavy mechanical equipment. * Ensure FIFO rules are followed rotating stock as needed * Maintain product and check shelves for appropriate inventory levels. * Checks product for outdated or damaged supplies and inform manager. * Obtain and submit to manager, receipt for goods delivered. * Responsible for daily cleanings of vehicle. * No other passengers except driver in vehicle unless authorized by manager. * Be aware of others and cautious when making heavy deliveries up and down stairs. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform additional duties as assigned. * Report any and all mechanical problems and concerns to manager. * Follow Whitsons Policy Guidelines REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Education: * High school graduate or equivalent. * Must complete all Whitsons and government required training as necessary Other Qualifications, Experience and Competencies: * Must be able to be physically fit to complete essential demands of the job. * Must be able to speak, read and write English. * Able to handle heavy loads up and down stairs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to: * Sit, walk, talk, and hear * Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. * Handle heavy loads of product on hand trucks, motorized pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and U-boats. * Safely maneuver equipment up and down stairs and off and on trucks (essential). * Drive/move pallet jacks (electric and mechanical) for a majority of the workday. * Remain standing on feet part of the workday in addition to walking back and forth. * Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary. * Ability to use electric lift-gates on trucks with attention to safety. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-state travel. Deliveries are made to schools where maintaining children’s safety is imperative. WORK ENVIRONMENT: * The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. * Also in schools, specifically the packing and warehousing areas while loading and unloading vehicle and making deliveries around children. Caution must be exercised maneuvering equipment up and down school staircases. * Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment. * The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
