CAMBA Development Director, Strategic Partnerships in Brooklyn, New York

CAMBA serves more than 65,000 individuals and families each year, citywide, including almost 13,000 youth. Our 180+ programs in over 100 locations improve the lives of a diverse cross section of New Yorkers. From homelessness prevention in Staten Island to supportive housing in the Bronx; from employment training in Manhattan to after school programs and college access in Brooklyn; from family shelter and support in Queens to increasing affordable housing across the city, CAMBA provides holistic services to help struggling New Yorkers stabilize their lives and become self-sufficient.

CAMBA’s Department of Strategic Partnerships cultivates relationships with funders, stakeholders, and community members in order to support CAMBA’s growth and high-quality programming.  The Department includes Development, Institutional Giving, and Marketing & Communications Teams.  The Development Team is responsible for individual and corporate gifts.

Position: Development Director

Reports To: SVP Strategic Partnerships

Location: 1720 Church Ave Brooklyn NY 11226 (Hybrid Position)

What The Development Director Does:

  • Manage Development staff (Associate Director & Database Manager) and work in close partnership with Communications Team (Director & Website/Social Media Manager).

  • Responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors with five- and six-figure capacity including multi-year commitments. Plan and schedule donor visits to show program impact first hand.

  • Be an effective steward; communicate with, educate, inspire and celebrate donors to give consistently and more. Respond promptly and appropriately to all major donor inquiries. Build authentic relationships with donors.

  • Develop and implement quarterly/ semi-annual personalized letters to major donors and track phone follow up and creation of authentic relationships with funders. Note all communications in database for moves management.

  • Create list of corporate partner prospects; develop and implement 12-month outreach plan to include volunteer opportunities for engagement, and request for corporate event sponsorship & grants.

  • Research, develop and implement Planned Giving campaign.

  • Manage Junior Board engagement in partnership with the Associate Director of Development. Organize events with goal of increasing network of relationships & fundraising.

  • Lead preparation and implementation of annual gala including honoree/sponsor research, outreach and projections. In partnership with the SVP, manage relationships with Board, Senior Staff and Honorees. Direct and oversee Associate Director and Database Manager on all event related activities.

  • Provide monthly report on portfolio activity and progress; assist in projecting and tracking multi-year gift solicitations.

  • This position is hybrid. Day-to-day work is offsite (remote), but position requires flexibility for in-person special events and preparation, volunteer events and donor meetings.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

  • Must show strong team-building and collaboration skills and talent/passion to take fundraising to the next level.

  • Ability to plan and launch new projects and processes.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in development and fundraising.

  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, strategies and trends in the non-profit sector.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high-level donors including corporate partners.

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) and show progressive leadership experience and skills.

  • Able to build authentic relationships with partners, funders, supporters, and team members.

Compensation: $130,000 - $150,0000 annually

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
