Responsibilities

This position provides technical engineering support to all DOS divisions and support NYCT divisions concerning telecommunications and communication-based applications, such as communication networks, radio networks. This position directs a team that coordinates engineering services on various programs/projects for current and future communication and DOS system needs; works with other NYCT stakeholders to support their communication and system engineering needs; works with MTA C&D to improve quality of engineering design and construction processes; manages and optimizes network configurations to enhance overall efficiency and performance; collaborates with engineering personnel to implement and maintain cutting-edge network technologies; explores alternative solutions and strategies to optimize project outcomes. Responsible for the strategic planning of all communication systems initiatives. Oversees user assessments and requests and provides directives from an engineering perspective. Develops and maintains engineering standards within the communications and systems engineering discipline. Plans and directs all service planning and asset management activities. Oversees communication drawing record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable and internal standards. Responsible for ensuring system security for all Operational and Enterprise networks and communication systems. Collaborates with executive management to align engineering efforts with organizational goals and objectives.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $135,101-$191,757 (Hay Point 1182)

Education and Experience

A Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or a related field with twelve (12) years full time professional experience of which eight (8) years must have been in a managerial/ supervisory capacity OR

A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.

A valid New York State Professional Engineer (P.E) License is desired, but not required.

Desired Skills

Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Managerial experience and

knowledge and experience in NYCT Capital and Operating Communication Systems and systems planning for high capacity, telecommunications management systems and networks, fiber optic systems, and control systems.

Selection Method

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
