Summary:

The Mechanic II is a fully trained shop mechanic who can perform all required job duties in the transportation shop, including routine preventive maintenance functions. They make all repairs related to trailers, including minor repairs to trailer refrigeration power units.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Must be able to perform the following repairs without supervision: Diagnose, remove, repair, replace, or rebuild clutches, water pumps, tires, tractor suspension, truck or trailer body repairs, rear differentials, drive lines, transmissions, wheel seals, brake systems, front wheel alignments, axle alignments on trailers; troubleshoot cooling systems; conduct diagnostic tests; cut or weld using cutting torch and welding machine.

 

Requirements

: At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED. Driver's license. 2 to 4 years' experience with diesel repairs, tractor-trailer repairs, and refrigeration maintenance and repairs. At least 1 year of documented experience in fleet maintenance OR 1 year of employment with company at upper scale of Class C Technician. Have basic hand tools (up to ½" drive) and tool storage. Have (or acquire within 1 year from date of hire) a current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) (Test T8). Certification with International Maxx Force 13 Engines. Certification in Transportation Refrigeration. Certification in brake systems and components; tractor A/C refrigeration and freon recovery (609 license required); trailer refrigeration 608 license (if working on trailer units); heavy-duty electrical diagnostics and repairs.
