They will also install, repair and maintain various equipment such as: signals, lights, switch machines, electrical switch locks, switch circuit controllers, as well as crossing warning devices. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Canadian Pacific Railway operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year. Within the Department of Engineering Operations, there are two facets component in Signals & Communications: Construction and Maintenance Signalman and Signal Maintainers work mostly alone on aspecified assigned territory by the Supervisors where the job can occasionally be physically demanding Other general duties include cable locates, painting and housekeeping of signal housings & equipment; climb and troubleshoot signal structures and make electrical connections The role of Signal Maintainer is an important link between ensuring compliance with FRA regulations and customer satisfaction while achieving the safest most efficient railroad operations Typical schedule is Monday - Friday with subject to call Activities by instruction and supervision of crew foreman: Work Safe Practices Comply with Company & Regulatory Rules and Policies Digging, cable repair, housing keeping, assembly of signal equipment, wiring of signal equipment, pole line work Repair or replace damaged equipment Test and verify correct operation of S&C systems and equipment Perform preventive maintenance on all S&C apparatus Make inspections and tests as required on each device Report problems; failures or unsafe conditions Plan his/her own work and coordinate it with the work of others Ensure there is enough material on hand to permit work or...
