*Position Summary: *The Children’s Aid (CA), established in 1853, is one of New York City’s leading child and family service organizations. The Bronx Family Center operates several programs including Child Welfare Family Services, Early Childhood programming, a Health Clinic, a Teen Center, and more. The Bronx Campus is comprised of four buildings; 910 E 172ndStreet, 1515 Southern Blvd, 1522 Southern Blvd., and 1554 Minford Place. Children’s Aid is looking for a Security Guard to join the Bronx Campus Security Team.

The Security Guard will be responsible for the safety and well-being of staff and clients at our 1554 Minford Pl. location. This includes monitoring cameras, door access, foot patrols, and assisting with all emergency operations at the direction of the Bronx Campus Security Manager.

*Essential Duties: *

  • Secure and maintain assigned post(s), monitor surveillance cameras, control site access, and check in visitors.

  • Observe activities and report irregularities to the Bronx Campus Security Manager.

  • Conducts regular foot patrols of both the interior and exterior direct perimeter areas of the site.

  • Responds to all emergencies and crisis situations through the direction of the Bronx Campus Security Manager.

  • Back up other security posts on the campus as needed.

  • Escorts staff to safety as needed. Assists with arranging car service as needed.

  • Serves and takes an active role on the emergency response team. Responds to all safety-related incidents and emergencies. Assists with fire and other emergency drills.

  • Operates paging system.

  • Receptive to coaching and participates in trainings and development as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Learn and follow all existing safety/security protocols; ensuring the safety of staff and clients in the building.

  • Recognize and report signs of misconduct such as alcohol or drug use, and potential criminal activity on concerns involving children and/or families.

  • Basic computer skills to check in clients for the building in the system.

  • Regularly reports to the assigned post on time.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in offered trainings and workshops such as Active Shooter, De-escalation, and all other trainings offered. Attend and take part in Children’s Aid “All-Staff” conferences.**

  • Maintain certification requirements (NYS DOS security licensing) and provide proof of attendance/certification in all professional training/activities.

Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to all state and city licensing requirements.

  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment.

*Minimum Qualifications: *

  • 2 years of experience as a security officer in a multi-floor or building environment.

  • HS Graduate/GED

  • Security Certification: NY State Security Guard License

  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite computer skills required, particularly email and calendar.

Key Competencies:

  • Effective communication skills; both in verbal and written skills.

  • Professional approach; resourceful, dependable, and approachable.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

  • Flexible, on-time and regular attendance.

  • Current and up-to-date CPR/AED certification is helpful.
