DRIVER

We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Driver to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Driver for our Families w/ Children facility located in the Williamsbridge area of the Bronx. As the Driver, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, helping with delivering and transporting staff and clients as needed throughout all five NYC boroughs and upstate New York. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC.

Homes for the Homeless, Inc. (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in the shelters as well as those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, after-school clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow specific regularly scheduled routes, charter routes or respond to requests from dispatch or management for unscheduled pick‑ups or drop‑offs.

  • Transmit and receive over two‑way radio system.

  • Complete driver trip sheet for each shift.

  • Report accidents or other safety situations to dispatch.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years’ driving experience.

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record that meets agency standards.

  • Must provide complete driving abstract from the Department of Motor Vehicles before hire, and regularly once hired.
