POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Academic Affairs embraces the College’s mission and its historical role in educating students from diverse ethnic, racial, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, particularly Hispanics and African Americans. To further that mission, the Office of Academic Affairs will provide the leadership and support necessary to ensure the integrity and excellence of academic programs, support the faculty teaching and scholarship, and advocate for faculty and the academic programs within the College when communicating with the University, the community, and external regulatory agencies, as required.

The Confidential Executive Associate will report directly to the Vice President and Provost of Academic Affairs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversees the day to day operations of the Department.

  • Coordinates, organizes, manages, and evaluates initiatives and special projects administered by the Office of Academic Affairs.

  • Serves as liaison for the academic review process to include planning and implementing the evaluation of academic programs in accordance with the College and University guidelines.

  • At the direction of the Provost, conducts ongoing analysis of educational trends and prepares executive briefings materials.

  • Manages academic faculty/administrator development activities.

  • Manages the budget for professional development activities and the new faculty orientation.

  • Serves as a member of the Provost’s cabinet and provides counsel and feedback on policy and administrative issues; represents the Provost at College-wide and CUNY-wide academic programs and social events.

  • Drafts policy statements, planning documents, and reports of the Office of Academic Affairs.

  • Ensures that all University and funding guidelines are disseminated and complied with by the division.

  • Works closely with the Provost to identify new operating expense and capital equipment/renovation needs.

  • Supports ongoing strategic planning processes and implementation of the strategic plan of College leadership through direction of fiscal parameters.

  • Performs financial analysis of performance across the College, assessment of resource requirements for new academic initiatives, and potential revenues from these programs.

  • Specifies human resource implications of strategic planning initiatives, including staffing needs, allocations and financing.

  • Tracks and analyzes annual performance management process goals for the division and creates related reports.

  • Directs the administration and maintenance of the division’s IT operations and website development.

  • Develops and maintains in collaboration with division leadership a space policy accounting for allocations and space and resources according to strategic goals and project needs.

  • Supervises and manages registration and course enrollment.

  • Coordinates and prepares curricular items for the Board of Trustees.

  • Liaises with the Title V Director to maintain the integrity of the Title V project with division’s vision and to ensure staff to staff cooperation between OAA and diverse offices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Essential duties require on campus presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • At least 4 years’ experience working in a higher education setting.

  • At least 4 years’ experience in project management.

  • Availability to work evening and weekend hours.

  • Organizes and manages projects involving different areas of the Campus or University community, with responsibility for project outcomes

  • Represents the Executive's unit in Campus or University-wide activities, including committees, special initiatives, and implementation of new processes or technology

  • Independently carries out a portfolio of responsibilities under the Executive's purview, such as approvals, student interactions, and monitoring of key activities

  • Manages communications within and outside the unit related to areas of responsibility

  • May serve as Manager of a large Executive Office

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

This position is excluded from union representation.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$93,491 - $110,641; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
