Assistant Professor - (Mathematics and Computer Science)

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York invites applications for tenure-track appointments at the Assistant Professor level, with an expected Fall 2024 start date. General duties include teaching, research, and guidance in area(s) of expertise.

The successful candidate is expected to be strongly committed to teaching students a full-range of mathematics courses, including developmental and upper-level mathematics and computer science courses; to participate in curricular and program development; to advise and mentor students; to pursue a program of scholarship and publication in the candidate’s research area of expertise; to serve on department, college, and university committees; and work on other department related projects as needed.

We will be prioritizing the hiring of faculty with a background in data science.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in Mathematics or Computer Science is required by the start of the Fall 2024 semester when appointment begins.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to teach a range of mathematics and computer science courses

  • Demonstrated ongoing scholarship or achievement

  • Experience using instructional technology in the classroom and in online settings and familiarity with teaching in a diverse, urban higher education setting

  • Ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution

  • Ability to teach day, evening, weekends, face-to-face, and online

  • A background in data science

COMPENSATION

Salary range of $52,267 - $90,375.
