Sotera Health Services, LLC Sr. Accountant - Consolidations in Broadview Heights, Ohio

The Senior Accountant - Consolidations plays a critical role in the company's consolidation process and financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Important aspects of the role include direct responsibility for a complex international consolidation including over 30 legal entities, analysis of business results, design and implementation of key financial reports, development of key internal controls, as well as enhancement of the HFM consolidations tool. This role requires close coordination and communication with global finance teams and effective cross-functional relationships. As an integral member of the Corporate Finance team reporting to the Senior Manager of Consolidation and Financial Reporting, this person will help drive the future vision of our corporate finance function. Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly financial consolidation
    • Ensure timely reporting by monitoring monthly workflow status
    • Prepare consolidation and elimination journal entries
    • Upload and reconcile financial results for sites' outside of ERP to HFM
    • Ensure intercompany balances are appropriate and eliminate upon consolidation
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and non-GAAP reconciliations along with analytics and ratios
    • Ensure business segment reporting is complete and accurate
    • Monitor and update foreign exchange rates
      • Review and input monthly exchange rates
      • Update forecast and budget rates
  • Intercompany billing and intercompany account activity tracking processes
  • Setup, maintain and update financial systems security for users
  • Assist with maintaining chart of accounts, entity structure, reports, categories
  • Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to develop key reports and provide data
  • Assist with the preparation of US GAAP financial statements and other key reports
  • Assist the Finance team in global communication and compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and account usage
  • Support key departmental projects including acceleration of monthly close, reporting process simplification, accounting policy updates and intercompany process improvements
  • Maintain internal control documentation and support quarterly review and annual audit efforts and SOX/internal control testing

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Consolidation experience - background in consolidation accounting, routines, and technology. HFM/Hyperion experience is strongly preferred.
  • Systems knowledge - experience and understanding of JDEdwards or similar enterprise systems
  • Strong accounting knowledge - knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to address GAAP requirements within the financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, equity, and cash flows)
  • Solid analytical skills - a professional who is able to apply analytical skills to improve various aspects of the consolidation and reporting processes
  • Track record of continuous improvement - an energetic individual who is not satisfied with the status quo and is always focused on the improvement of business processes, reporting, and controls
  • Strong interpersonal skills - a relationship builder with a professional, open and confident style who can build bridges and work effectively across a global organization and who has strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proactive approach - someone addresses each task with a sense of urgency and is capable of generating a high volume of quality work products
