Introduction:

The Boeing Company is looking for a highly skilled and experienced aircraft Maintenance Operations Manager to manage a team of maintenance technicians and Support Functions at RAF Brize Norton on the C-17 Aircraft.

Global Technical Operations (GTO) shall be providing support to the C-17 International Program to our UK customer the Royal Air Force. Maintenance Operations Manager will manage the teams responsible for the planning support team and the maintenance technicians on the C-17.

The Role:

Primarily focused on the maintenance to a key Defense platform, the role will provide the opportunity to be part of a highly motivated and evolving team of like minded professionals within the Field Operations Team, delivering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and modification services to our UK Defense Customer.

Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Operations Manager leads a dynamic team of aircraft technicians, GSE Technicians, ATGL technicians and Production Control / Planning specialists, works closely with the C-17 program and other defined local stakeholders to deliver the program through a planning led approach, as well as supports Global Technical Operations leadership to ensure delivery of quality maintenance to our customer.

  • Develops and motivates a team of diverse skills, capability, and experience to maximize individual and team performance.

  • Provides the link between our customers and the maintenance teams through its planning team.

  • Performs project management activities in development of project plans, deliverables, line management, and risk assessments.

  • Performs process improvements to aid delivery to schedule and support CRI targets for the C-17 International Program.

  • Provides oversight and approval of performance approaches, acquires resources, and maintains quality, safety, schedule, and cost plans. Understands contractual language and requirements to ensure compliance and execution. Conducts thorough and complete program status reporting to internal and external customers as required.

  • Operates in a fast-paced environment augmenting and/or leading modification and/or maintenance within a highly complex and multi organizational customer environment to deliver against contractual requirements and mission execution.

  • Is embedded within an environment working alongside peers, teams and customers in dynamic and operationally focused atmosphere.

  • Works within a multifaceted stakeholder landscape and with often immature, developing and changing requirements, is expected to lead work packages and/or projects to deliver customer satisfaction.

  • Possesses advocacy and knowledge vital in helping the customer achieve their business objectives.

  • Acts as an ambassador for The Boeing Company at appropriate client organization levels (grade dependent) and is responsible for generating full, or elements of, execution solutions in line with the contractual requirements.

  • Is an energetic self-starter with the correct aptitude and attitude that can build enduring customer intimacy and high performing teams within an exciting and demanding arena

  • Manpower planning, staffing, training, time management, performance management, personal development.

  • Ensures timely execution of all maintenance and modification activities ensuring the Customer aircraft is returned to service in a timely manner and to the required standard.

  • Develops Interface with Program Management and other functions to ensure seamless delivery of maintenance services.

  • Manages cost target and identifies cost reduction initiatives within the maintenance services environment.

  • Meets training requirements for mandatory and non-mandatory training.

  • Performs frequent operations reviews with Program Management and other stakeholders.

  • Advises Boeing of all reportable events during Maintenance Operations.

  • Promotes innovation and champions continuous improvement initiatives such as OneBPS.

  • Performs mandatory reporting as required

  • Promotes Safety Culture, First Time Quality, FOD Reporting and SMS.

  • Ensures all reported incidents are recorded in the relevant Boeing system and that corrective action measures are put in place to avoid reoccurrence.

  • Works with the Quality Team to address occurrences and audit findings in a timely manner.

  • Provides reporting of performance indicators

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in providing technical and performance oversight of aircraft maintenance or modifications, including briefing Government Customers on status of performance.

  • Experience in managing performance-based aircraft maintenance contracts.

  • Previous Experience in leading planning and scheduling teams.

  • Proven knowledge and proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to learn in house systems.

  • Ability to travel to domestic or international sites, sometimes at short notice.

Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance requiring 5 years continuous residency in the UK.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
