About the Opportunity

Given the demand for talent in the energy market, we are looking to develop talent from aligned sectors and want to offer electrical design engineers the opportunity to move into the Energy Transition sector – you will be offered support and development if this is not a sector you have experience in, or just hit the ground running on exciting projects if you already know this market well!

Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for an Electrical Engineer who can progress in Substations and Plant design role to provide support to projects across Jacobs’ markets. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems, inertia systems, wind farms and advanced facilities for mission critical industries in the technology and process sectors.

We will consider technical professionals from most backgrounds, but we are especially keen to seek experience within rail, oil and gas refinery, substation/plant design.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status

  • Experience within an electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects e.g. Rail or Oil and Gas Refinery

  • Relevant, professional experience in HV and LV experience and knowledge of substations 33kV

  • Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings. CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation) preferred but not essential.
