About us

Brisbane / Drug Substance Division - One of the five divisions that make up the Pharma Services Group. At the Brisbane site we specialise in GMP manufacturing and commercialisation of large molecule biologics, applying powerful single-use technologies and a proven manufacturing approach. This allows us to serve the needs of Small/Emerging, Mid-Sized, and Large Pharma sectors globally. The network of Patheon’s drug substance manufacturing sites includes St. Louis, USA, Groningen, Netherlands, and Brisbane, Australia.

How will you make an impact?

As we see the growth of the Brisbane site, an expanded role has been created to support the sustainable growth of the Operations group. In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership strengths in the development of this new team direction.

The focus of this team will be to support Operations on this growth journey by providing support in these key areas: operations logistics planning and coordination, bulk media and buffer preparation, and facility cleaning. This part of role you will have opportunities to engagement with global colleagues to support best practice implementation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading the MSS team supporting the OPS group by, working with all partners to coordinate the logistics for the group, the successful formulation of media and buffer solutions to support batch execution, and supporting the planning and maintenance of the facility cleaning, at the same time, demonstrating strong managerial proficiency in a sophisticated and dynamic regulated environment.

  • Build and cultivate an impactful team through strong mentoring and leadership, and ensure growth and development of the MSS team with a focus on building talent depth.

  • A proactive attitude and initiative to identify and overcome practical problems, with minimal direction to deliver sustained improvement in the site key performance indicators of Right the First Time and On Time Delivery.

  • Partner with the Quality Department to maintain the lifecycle of all quality documents and records including sign-off on completed batch records.

  • Adhere to the Patheon cGMP Quality Management System and the Patheon EH&S requirements.

  • Support your team SMEs in performing troubleshooting, contribute to the transfer/implementation and understanding of relevant new technologies/equipment, and train co-workers including approval of on-the-job training.

What will you bring to our team?

  • Tertiary education in a logistics, science, or engineering-based field (i.e. biopharmaceutical manufacture, biotechnology, process technology).

  • Five to seven years of leadership experience, preferably in a GMP logistics/manufacturing environment with sound knowledge of GMP regulations.

  • High-level PC and software skills including the use of ERP systems.

  • Science experience related to the pharmaceutical industry is helpful but not required.

  • Proven strong leadership skills to build effective teams.

  • Strong organisational, scheduling, and planning skills.

  • Ability to work unsupervised.

  • Good communication, flexibility, reliability, and assertiveness. Responsible and proactive.
