Our Team:

This position will report into the Head of North America Medical which is a segment of the Medical Affairs Specialty Care organization.

Our Medical Affairs function serves as a valued strategic partner with Clinical, Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access on therapeutic solutions to support patients’ needs. The Oncology team is proud to support Sanofi’s deep commitment to chasing the miracles of science to improve the lives of patients.

Key objectives include:

  • Disseminating data across the portfolio within the broader framework of comprehensive value propositions for all the stakeholders in the healthcare arena.

  • Collecting insights from all healthcare stakeholders (e.g. KOLs, payers, and competent authorities)

  • Generating evidence supplementary to the data generated by the clinical development plan. This data is either needed in support of local market access, or to generate leads for further Life Cycle Management of the products.

  • Conducting and overseeing training and education events for internal and external stakeholders

  • Where products are partnered, working in collaborative partnership with alliance partners and regional counterparts to ensure all activities are fully and seamlessly aligned with the shared brand strategy.

Job Description:

Main job responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in Medical Affairs, Commercial, Research and Development, Drug Safety, Sales & Marketing and Regulatory to ensure success of the Medical Brand Plans.

  • Lead the development, execution, and monitoring of all NA medical brand strategies for Oncology, and work with functional leads on execution of tactics and associated budgets.

  • Oversee the medical leads in ensuring they lead, plan, and provide medical expertise for all the Oncology Medical Affairs related programs.

  • Provide inspirational leadership to the Oncology Medical Affairs teams to assure delivery of key strategies and corporate priorities.

  • Assess risks and identify issues, conflicts or gaps across the portfolio and provide guidance and solutions.

  • Oversee the therapeutic area medical leads in ensuring appropriate review and approval of medical and scientific content of Regulatory, Safety, Scientific Affairs, Medical Affairs and Commercial outputs.

  • Oversee and align across brands (where possible) measurable policies regarding customer and product medical education within the team to assure a high level of customer satisfaction and compliance.

  • Oversee the management of the Oncology medical budget. Integrate and influence Oncology Team, Marketing & Sales strategies, tactics, and programs to accomplish US Medical Affairs priorities.

  • Represent Oncology Medical Affairs and Sanofi Genzyme to key internal and external audiences including HCPs, key thought leaders, medical associations, and other key organizations.

  • Develop and maintain key opinion leader relationships representing both the franchise and the broader healthcare community.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, and to ensure team compliance with these external as well as internal guidelines and standard operating procedures.

  • Collaborate with other NA Medical Affairs therapeutic areas to leverage expertise and programs as appropriate.

  • Recruit and manage a team across multiple therapeutic areas, hiring, managing, mentoring, developing and growing the talent and capabilities of team members across the NA organization.

  • Travel as required to support and attend conferences, symposia and other important meetings.

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the relevant therapeutic areas and of the product data to allow a credible interaction with the NA Therapeutic Area Medical Heads and a peer-to-peer relationship with external stakeholders.

About you

Education : Advanced degree in a scientific discipline: MD, PhD. Clinical Experience and Board Certifications is advantageous.

Work Experience : Minimum of 10 years of experience in Medical Affairs or related areas, at least 7 of which leading a large medical function. Strong people management experience and track record in developing and executing medical strategies in the US. Significant experience in Medical Affairs Launch and Life Cycle Management activities is a plus. Experience in Oncology highly preferred.

  • Has an analytical and problem-solving mindset, balanced with creative thinking.

  • Has a strong understanding of organizational and inter-cultural sensitivities and is able to apply this knowledge to day-to-day practices.

  • Must possess ethical standards of the highest level and have the knowledge and ability to comply with all relevant ethical, regulatory, and legal standards.

  • Must be fluent in English and possess superb written and verbal communication skills; fluency in other languages is an advantage.
