Bridgewater State University Staff Assistant Transfer Counselor in Bridgewater, Massachusetts

TRANSFER RECRUITMENT & ADVISING - Contribute to the achievement of university enrollment goals by supporting and communicating transfer admissions policies and procedures to students, families, community college advisors, and campus partners. - Support all prospective and newly admitted transfers via degree planning to reinforce the student?s educational and career goals; guide student-comprehension of BEARS database/course equivalencies, transfer agreements, MassTransfer benefits, appeal processes, registration, and DegreeWorks navigation. - Collaborate with BSU faculty and staff to assess and enhance transfer credit appeal process, ensuring appeals are processed and applied to DegreeWorks in a timely manner. - Identify gaps pertaining to CED credits for international transfer students and implement new and effective solutions that assist students in maximizing their transfer credits. - Deliver advising support and guidance to students participating in community college partnerships, such as CC2BSU and reverse transfer. - Assist the Director of Transfer Services in coordinating and developing new transfer initiatives with regional community colleges, as well as curriculum articulation agreements. - Serve as an advocate for all prospective and current transfer students by ensuring their transfer navigation needs are met and connect students to the appropriate faculty and campus resources when necessary. OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT - Assist the Director of Transfer Services with the day-to-day management of the Transfer Center and implementation of Transfer Services policies, programs and services. - Assist Director of Transfer Services in drafting and developing policies and procedures that support the goals of the university, foster a transfer culture, and increase transfer rates including those of underrepresented populations. - Help build community by communicating updates via involvement network and monitoring transfer-related social media channels including CC2BSU and the BSU mobile app. - Assess meaningful transfer data, prepare reports, and monitor the needs of the transfer population, recommending new initiatives that encourage involvement and empower learning amongst transfer students. - Participate on committees and task forces where appropriate and when time and interest permit. - Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications 1. Bachelors Degree. 2. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 3. Demonstrated experience advancing the cause of racial and social justice via implementing equitable services that serve underrepresented populations. 4. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Strong team, interpersonal and collaborative skills are essential. 5. Ability to utilize excellent customer service skills and demonstrates ability to respond promptly to student concerns. 6. Position requires ability to work in stressful situations, sensitivity to human concerns, flexibility, patience, professional integrity, and a concern for the needs of students in a demanding academic context. 7. Strong ability to work closely and confidentially with students, faculty, and administrators in exercise sound judgment and to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Preferred Qualifications 1. Knowledge of DegreeWorks and Banner systems. 2. Understanding of MassTransfer Pathway programs, Commonwealth Commitments, and their associated benefits. 3.
