Job Brief

The incumbent is a working supervisor who will oversee and provide direction to skilled and semi-skilled maintenance staff, both in-house and outside contractors and oversees maintenance activities from development to completion.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with Agency mission, Code of Ethics, applicable state and local codes, and environmental law.

  • Adhere to established timelines and scope of projects as well as supervise and communicate these needs to maintenance staff.

  • Responsible for the communication to leadership regarding work schedule of their facility, time frames, extent of disruption, and safety issues of the specific project.

  • Scheduling of jobs pertaining to buildings and grounds maintenance.

  • Supervise maintenance staff responsible for maintaining safe, properly maintained facilities that comply with all pertinent codes.

  • Complete employee annual performance evaluations.

  • Assist with interviewing for open positions within the maintenance department.

  • Responsible for purchasing of all supplies relating to maintenance, building, and grounds. Adhere to agency policies regarding purchasing.

  • Work on establishing positive working relationships with vendors and contractors ensuring the agency’s ability to cost compare and purchase at best prices.

  • Implement and maintain an inventory system for tools and equipment. Ensure all tools are charged overnight.

  • Ensure 24/7 on-call system. Ensure on-call person has vendor listing.

  • Responds to emergencies in a timely manner.

  • All other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    5 years of experience in the area of general building maintenance

    Familiarity with state regulations governing OPWDD facilities

    Prior supervisory experience required

    Electrical, mechanical, carpentry & plumbing experience

    Ability to work on-call

    Ability to work flexible hours as assigned

    Able to travel throughout the Hudson Valley as needed

    Valid NY State Driver’s License
