Amergis Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants ($35-45/hr) in Bremerton, Washington

Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, theCertified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides occupational therapy servicesincluding treatment, implementation, standardized assessment data, anddocumentation to students in the school setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides interventions to impact the student’s functionalability (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbalcommunication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, etc.) as delegated bythe Occupational Therapist

  • Understands the role of therapy in the context of thestudent's age, total needs perspective and ability

  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of the student’sschool environment for equipment needs, and the reduction of barriers or safetyrisks

  • Teaches new skills or retrains students in once-familiardaily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness orinjury

  • Consistently reports to the Occupational Therapist regardingstudent progress/status to promote modification of treatment program and anyadverse outcomes

  • Maintains timely, legible, and efficient studentdocumentation

  • Notes remain concise, pertinent and meet district andpractice documentation standards

  • Instructs student in the use of various types of adaptiveequipment and/or splints to improve function

  • Ensures equipment is in good working order

  • May utilize physical agents, including but not limited toheat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage

  • Identifies student needs for other supportive services andnotifies the Occupational Therapist

  • Reports student’s reactions(s) to treatment or change(s) incondition to the physician and Occupational Therapist

  • Prepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based onthe progress toward goals and responses to treatment

  • Participates in case conferences, meetings and in-serviceeducation

  • Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws andregulations regarding professional standards and practice standards

  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current certification or licensure as an OccupationalTherapy Assistant in the state of practice

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistantrequired

  • One (1) year of experience as an Occupational TherapyAssistant preferred

  • Pediatric experience preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
