USS Turner Joy Maintenance Assistance in Bremerton, Washington

The Maintenance Assistance is to assist the Bremerton Historic Ships Association (BHSA) with their objective of providing a lasting Naval and Maritime Heritage Center on the City of Bremerton Waterfront. Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining a positive and ideal image of the BHSA and the USS Turner Joy to the public and staff. On scheduled work days, it is the responsibility of the Maintenance Assistant to ensure the ship is open on time and prepared for visitors and the ship is secured and closed at the end of the business day.

Required Skills:

  • Able to work without supervision or as part of a team
  • Ability to identify, assess and triage ongoing ship maintenance needs
  • Knowledge of standard SAE tool sizes and general tool knowledge
  • Basic electrical skills -- Marine electrical skills a plus.
  • Basic plumbing skills
  • Painting experience
  • Mechanical knowledge
  • Janitorial experience
  • Ability to set up audio equipment for special events
  • Able to lift 100lbs. when necessary
  • Able to be on your feet extended periods of time
  • Able to climb ladders
  • Dependable
  • Great customer service skills

Desired but NOT REQUIRED

  • Working knowledge of Navy Ships
  • Welding experience
