Emergency Certificated Substitute Teacher

 

*We are glad that you are considering being an Emergency Certificated Substitute Teacher with the Bremerton School District! *

 

Here is some information that is frequently requested:

  • As a substitute, you will earn $200 per 7.5 hour day. (Half days and early release days are paid at a prorated rate.) 
  • We require that you possess a BA or BS degree in order to apply.
  • You will be required to have a fingerprint/background check that costs $83, unless you have a current one from a Washington school district.
  • Part of the process will require you to obtain your Emergency Substitute Teaching Certificate. This process will be completed on-line and will cost you $63.

Here is the process:

Step 1:   Fill out the Bremerton School District job application found on our website. (Click the "Apply for this Position" button on the top right corner.

 

Step 2:  Once your Bremerton School District application is completed, we will contact you to come in for an interview in HR.  We will begin your paperwork process for HR and Payroll.

 

Step 3:  When your interview is completed and you have been approved for hire as an Emergency Certificated Substitute, our office will help you start the process to get your certificate.

 

Step 4:  When OSPI has processed and issued your certificate, you will be ready to start working as a substitute!!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

The classroom teacher will work collaboratively with other building staff members to develop and motivate each student toward an awareness and understanding of the subject matter and/or skills needed to develop into mature, well rounded, responsible young adults.  The teacher will establish positive rapport with students and will encourage them to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for future success. 

 

Reports to and evaluated by:           Building Principal or Designee

  • Provide an optimum learning environment for all students
