Job Summary:

We are looking for a CAD Designer with AutoCAD proficiency. This position is primarily civil based AutoCAD design and will directly involve the design and drafting of outside plant cable plans both aerial and underground. You will work with local city and county design standards to obtain excavation and temporary traffic control permits to complete the project.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create permit drawings in accordance with local municipal rules.

  • Conduct utility research using tools such as Google Earth, various GIS Software from the municipalities, and any information gathered from Fielding department.

  • Collaborate with other departments (Engineering and Aerial) to effectively design fiber optic networks for various client’s needs.

  • Create and revise civil drawings within public right-of-way or per agency requirements.

  • Research building data, state and local code requirements, and interpret survey data for accuracy and verification of project

  • Design traffic control plans for custom and typical requirements in accordance with each state

    Expectations:

  • Experience reading parcel maps, utility prints, and as-builts.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Knowledgeable in city, county, and local municipalities encroachment permits, Traffic Control and specialty permits (e.g., UPRR, Caltrans, etc.), easement right away and various environmental permits are highly desired

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6+ months of AutoCAD experience

  • AA Degree in Engineering Technology/Drafting preferred or equivalent combination of education and recent CAD experience
