Basic Job Functions:

The Environmental Technician will be responsible for driving safety and ensuring compliance with State and Federal environmental regulations via daily mechanical and electrical maintenance of baghouses, water treatment systems, and associated equipment, loading of hazardous waste, proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and spills, preventative maintenance, emergency response activities for spills or other environmental releases, documented inspections of pollution control equipment and compliance areas, environmental department activities and other duties as assigned. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in related industry: Water systems operations, water chemistry analysis, baghouse/emissions control operations, CEMS, pollution control equipment, mechanical maintenance (emphasis on pumps, motors, and valves) Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and/or preventative maintenance program experience VFD, AC motors, and motor control experience PLC system building, programming, and troubleshooting experience Training in ISO 14001, HAZWOPER, RCRA, DOT, Method 9 and other aspects of environmental compliance
