Job Title: Project Manager

Job Description

The Project Manager provides overall management of detailed and complex construction projects. This position is accountable for all aspects of a project's success from the initial preconstruction planning and procurement to final completion. Additionally, this position provides direct support to other functional project teams in the planning and execution of the job including resolving issues, managing resources, project coordination, and interfacing with client representatives regarding the project's progress. The role is approximately 80% office-based and 20% field-based.

Responsibilities

  • Set up projects in a timely manner.

  • Review specifications including contracts and drawings to determine construction requirements and plan procedures.

  • Manage overall project performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, innovation, cost, and customer satisfaction).

  • Coordinate site-specific project management or coaching during the initiation and planning phases.

  • Serve as the single point of contact, establishing, maintaining, and managing customer expectations regarding the project performance.

  • Report project status and performance data as required to executive management.

  • Ensure compliance with in-house Project Management and Safety Standards.

  • Plan, execute, monitor, control, and continuously work towards successful project completion.

  • Manage onsite vendors and subcontractors to ensure the level of performance is within scope.

  • Maintain and complete accurate and consistent submittal logs.

  • Provide updates, schedules, and reports as requested.

  • Coordinate and oversee that all team members have been provided the proper safety training and equipment.

  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work, monitoring own work to ensure quality.

  • Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years as an Assistant Project Manager (APM) or Project Manager (PM) managing multiple civil projects.

  • Proficient in using Procore or HCSS to forecast cost and schedule.

  • Construction knowledge in Civil or Landscape construction (Self-Performing contractor ideally).

  • Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or commensurate experience.

  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid/Heavy Job, BlueBeam, and Procore software.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience.

  • 2 years of prior experience with a heavy/civil self-perform construction company preferred.

  • No certifications required.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a brand new office space with working hours from 8 am to 5 pm. The office hosts 20+ people. The role involves managing high-profile clients like Port Authority, DOT, Transit, and other large clients. The company has been around for over 25 years and was recently acquired, becoming part of a larger brand. The position involves a mix of office and fieldwork, with 80% of the time spent in the office and 20% in the field.
