About this role

Our business is life safety, and the Notification Engineering Manager will lead a team and portfolio of devices that is key to the visual and audible notification of potential fire-safety risks in a building. This role will be responsible for the personnel and product-line that delivers cutting-edge products which meet our global customers' needs. Working with other stakeholders inside and outside the business, the role will include strategic planning of our future products and roadmap, execution of our current program and project deliverables, and supporting our existing products within the Notification portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the Notification engineering team in the development of new products, solutions, and processes

  • Assigns work and ensures that completed work meets established engineering and manufacturing schedules and satisfies customer requirements.

  • Establishes procedures for addressing design problems and executes changes or makes recommendations for changes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of design activities.

  • In collaboration with the Notification technical leader, trains, instructs, and provides technical guidance to employees to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.

  • Interfaces with functional departments in preparing work schedules to ensure coordination of activities and effective resource allocation.

  • Refines current and future product requirements based on internal and external customer input, quality incident tickets, and technology improvements.

  • Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs.

  • Manages the team and their development, collaborates with other team leaders and departments, and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree

  • 12+ years of engineering experience

  • 2+ years of experience with managing projects and teams

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

  • Experience with having people management preferred

  • Able to clearly communicate complex concepts to a wide variety of cross-functional resources.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able/available for occasional travel (approx. 10%).

  • Experience in notification and/or fire domain is preferred.
