A Line Cook or Prep Cook plates dishes and completes basic food prepping tasks for the kitchen. Their main duties include preparing and cooking food in a specific station, cleaning up prep areas and making sure the kitchen is stocked.

  • Sets up kitchen stations and stocks appropriately
  • Assist fellow line cooks during busy times
  • Execute service and keep items prepped in each station
  • Take inventory of all items required for station set up
  • Opens and closes kitchen properly using kitchen checklists
  • Prepares ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food
  • Prep foods for each station
  • Wash, peel fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and food preparation checklist
  • Prepare cold foods
  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers
  • Monitor food quality
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tools, tables, knives and equipment
  • Trains new hires on policies and procedures in kitchen
  • Works with servers to ensure all guests requests and special allergen requests are met
  • Ensure all kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
  • Takes out all kitchen trash
  • Cleans kitchen floors and performs all daily/ weekly checklists and side work
  • Other duties directed from management
  • Attends any required meetings
